Rida Ait El Manssour Explores Combinatorial Methods in Differential Algebra

Published 28.07.2023

Congrats to our new Dr. rer. nat. Rida Ait El Manssour on the successful defense of his dissertation on the study of combinatorial properties in algebraic differential equations. Rida recently joined the IRIF Institute in Paris. Well done!

Rida describes the focus of his studies as follows: “In fact, every algebraic differential equation defines an ideal in the ring of polynomials with an infinite number of variables. Since these ideals are infinitely generated, one considers their truncations and studies their varieties. This reveals connections to various mathematical fields, including singularity theory and partition identities.”

Rida recently joined the Modeling and Verification Research Group at the Institut de Recherche en Informatique Fondamentale IRIF in Paris, a joint research laboratory of the CNRS and the Université Paris Cité. As a postdoc, he will be supervised by Mahsa Shirmohammadi and work on problems related to improving the complexity of algorithms derived from Automata Theory.

Rida earned his bachelor's degree at the Mohammed 5 University in Rabat, Morocco and his master’s in Italy at the University of Trieste and at SISSA. His PhD thesis was supervised by Bernd Sturmfels and co-advised by Gleb Pogudin.
