30 Years of Excellent Research Made in Saxony

30 years ago, the first of now six Max Planck Institutes was founded in Saxony. Join us in celebrating the success story of the Saxon MPIs with numerous events in Leipzig and Dresden.

Historic review

In 1993, the first Max Planck Institute was founded in Saxony, the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems in Dresden. In the following years, five more institutes followed: in 1994 the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences in Leipzig, initially as the Max Planck Institute for Cognitive Neuroscience, in 1995 the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids in Dresden, in 1996 our Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences in Leipzig, in 1997 the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig, and in 1998 the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics in Dresden. 2023 also marks the 75th anniversary of the Max Planck Society. This is an occasion to celebrate excellent research 'Made in Saxony' and to present it to the public.
